I'm back with a not so exciting update. I don't think there's much to tell. I've been spending a lot of time studying chemistry (for all the good it's doing me), and just going about my normal stuff.
You know what the best thing about this semester is, though? Or at least one of the best things. I actually have home teachers! Granted, I've always had home teachers assigned to my apartment, but my first semester, they never came in the capacity of home teachers (and the few times they did come over at all for for FHE). This semester, they come every week; they're enthusiastic about it, and they're really sweet guys. They've pretty much challenged us to have something for them to do for us every week. They even found me a guy to help out with Chemistry! :-D
As far as classes go, I guess everything is going well. My favorite is my biology class: vertebrae and invertebrate zoology. The best part is lab. We get to dissect the animals we study in class. So far the best one has been a squid. That was way fun and cool. It's a good thing my lab partners weren't squeamish, though, because I was definitely poking and prodding around that thing. I actually dissected the eye and found the lens, which looked like a little pearl. I really wanted to keep it. And after lab, I had this crazy idea that I should have taken both and made earrings out of them :-P That would have been pretty sweet. Religion is right behind it, though. I'm taking the first half of the Doctrine and Covenants, and I love my teacher. He is hilarious! But more than that, he has some great doctrinal insights.
Well, I can't think really of anything else to write about. Just in case you were wondering:
Dates: 0
Boyfriends: 0
Marriage Proposals: 0
Ha ha. I know my school's reputation, and I just have to let you know from time to time ;-)
Ciao!

Just Another Week
Hey there!
Yeah, I'm back for another post so soon after the last! Ha. Aren't you proud of me?
Anyway, it's been kind of an interesting week. On Tuesday, I tried out for the collegiate swing team. I didn't make it, but that was one of the best two hours of the week! There were a couple of people at the try out that I knew. We spent a while learning a short routine and...wait for it....it had a lift and a drop! OMGosh! That was the coolest thing ever! I totally wish we were allowed to do them at the social dances! I can see why we're not, seeing as how I got dropped, but still! It was so fun (the moves, not landing on the ground)!
Other than that, nothing too much out of the usual. Classes, which are almost all going well, my regular dance stuff, and roomies! Taylor is totally infatuated with this guy, and she talks to him lots. I don't really get to see Breann or Janie much because I'm gone during the day and they're either gone or in their room at night.
Kelsee and Anna are still pretty much the best roommates ever! So I was totally stressing over my chemistry last night, and they made Swedish brownies and brought them into my room. We went a little....giddy. It was really fun. And then we decided at 10:45 that we should run to WalMart. Well, we were too late; it was already closed. So we just drove around for a while. They drove to this park and told me to go look into this building. I got out and looked in through the window and it had a freakin' carousel! That totally made my night! Heavenly Father definitely knew what He was doing when he made these wonderful girls my roommates!
Well, I think that's about it for now!

BYU-I the 3rd
I'm back in the Burg! Actually, I have been for a little over a week, but you wouldn't believe how busy I've been...well, you probably would believe it, but let me tell you about it anyway!
I flew out of Des Moines the evening of 7 September. It was a little interesting getting through airport security because I was bringing my bassoon on the plane. I had forgotten about the needle nose pliers that were in my case, so the nice TSA man had to search through it and measure them to make sure they were within federal regulations. Thankfully, all was well, and I boarded the plan without incident. When I landed in Denver, I found the gate to my next flight and then went in search of some food. Pizza Hut hit the spot, but their bread sticks were muy disappointing because they were hard and crunchy instead of nice and soft. Oh well. I got into SLC around 11 and waited a long time for my luggage to come in. My roommate, Kelsee, picked me up, and we drove to her house. I spent the 8th with her family, and her siblings are a riot! We had a good time together.
And then we left really early on the 9th to head up to Rexburg. I spent the day shopping and unpacking. I'm living just off campus now, and it's not too shabby. My closet is kinda small, and our kitchen doesn't have a pantry, but we did what we could. My other roommate, Anna, came up on Saturday. Kelsee, Anna, and I were all disappointed to discover that our apartment doesn't even allow residents to keep fish because they have a lovely beta fish named Spud.
But my new apartment complex (Birch Plaza) has six girls per room, so I also have three new roommates. Breann Briggs is from Texas. She's a sweet girl and really nice. She was actually the first of my new roommates that I got in touch with over the break. Taylor Haacke is my roommate in the sense that we're sharing a room. She's a little wacky but very nice. She's from the Seattle, WA area. It's her first semester in Rexburg, but she's transferred an Associate's degree, so she's technically a junior. Janie Demotropolis is my last new roommate. She's a little quieter than the rest of us but still lots of fun. She also transferred an Associate's and is a junior. And an interesting little tidbit: she is literally a day younger than me. But that still makes me the oldest in my apartment for three semesters running! Score! :-)
I've already had a full week of classes. It's going to be a great semester. I'm really looking forward to it. I think by far my favorites are going to be zoology and D&C. I'm taking one final semester of chemistry, and it's already eating at my soul. If I can survive the next three months, I will be golden. I'm also playing bassoon again with a scholarship, and I am in a section of three bassoon players (including myself)! I was actually expecting to be the only one, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there were two new freshman girls playing with me. I am "in charge" since I'm the seasoned player, but I'm looking forward to playing with and getting to know those girls.
And of course I can't talk about my life at BYU-I without talking about dance! :-) No dance class this semester, but I will, of course, continue to go to my regular swing and ballroom nights. On top of those fun things, I'm on the committee for the ballroom workshop. We had our first one last week Thursday, and I couldn't believe the turn out. We had 112 people come! It was so awesome! And there were ~150 people who came to the Friday night ballroom. I don't expect the numbers to stay quite that high for the whole semester, but what a way to start! I'm really excited to do a lot more dancing this semester and get to know people. I will also be trying out for the swing team this Tuesday. It'll be fun if I do make it, but if I don't, it won't crush any hopes or dreams that I have. I'll just continue to do what I normally do.
Well, I think that's all I have for now. My goal is to update more this semester, so hopefully I'll be writing here again soon.

The End is Near
Hey Everyone!
So this will probably be my last post before the end of the semester cuz I'm gonna be crazy busy!
As far as school goes, I'm hanging in there. Chemistry is a slow and painful way to die, but I've only got one lab, three tests, and three weeks left. I'm telling myself I can do it! :-) Biology was cool while we were talking about DNA and stuff like that, but now we're talking about plants and roots, so it's not nearly as fun. Book of Mormon is still a great class. Math is math- 'nuff said.
In my dance class, though, we're getting ready for our big competition on the 16th. I'm in a group that's doing the watlz, which made me happy to no end. I had so many ideas walking into that, so this week we're going to be hard at work stringing together a three minute routine. I'm way excited to try the partner change that I've been imagining in my head for weeks now. I'm also my group's "team leader", so I'm trying to get us together outside of class to practice since we only get four class periods to do anything. It should be way fun!
I also have a band concert coming up this week, but not the whole band is in it. It's called Patriots and Pioneers, and since we'll be playing in the BYU-I Center, we couldn't fit all 85 or whatever students that are in my band. I was kind of a default to play in it since there are only two bassoons in my band, but it should be a good concert :-) (By the way, if you're at BYU-I, I'm putting in the plug now that you should go get tickets and attend the concert!)
As for what I've been up to recently, well, we had a band concert yesterday at Driggs for a couple thousand people. I haven't played outside in a long time, so that was definitely a new experience. Most of our tunes were of a patriotic nature (surprise surprise), but we played way better than I was anticipating, especially after our bombed rehearsal on Friday. Once we were done playing, we listened to a guest speaker, Glenn Beck, until it was dark enough to do the fireworks show. Way cool. I've never been so close. They were lighting the fireworks not too far from where we were, so they were exploding right over our heads! We got home around 12:30, and I promptly went to bed.
Other than that, I'm just being a normal college student. Busy with school work, dancing, oh yeah, and White Glove is coming up, too. That'll just be a joy, like always. For those of you who don't know what white glove is, we have to clean our apartment super duper for the next people who come in. My head resident said that we should expect to spend about 15 hours working on white glove, but I'm definitely not putting in that kind of time because A) I don't have that kind of time and B) it really shouldn't take that long, nor could I stand to clean for that long.
So yeah, that's pretty much it for me. I'll catch ya later!

Mid Term Update
I'm Back!
So about half the semester is gone. We just finished midterms week, although it was a pretty normal week for me. I did like having Monday off of school. It made the rest of the week go by so much faster (not to mention I got a lot done). I vote we do that every week :-)
So what have I been up to? Well...not much out of the ordinary. Classes are keeping me plenty busy, especially chemistry and biology. Sometime I have to ask myself why I decided to be a biology major. But no worries, I'm hanging in there. Everything else is fairly easy. But then, I guess none of my other classes are really for my major. Music and dance really have nothing to do with it. Book of Mormon is a fun class. My teacher is funny and really nice, but he'll be out of the country for the next month. That doesn't mean I get out of class, though (bummer). He has a sub lined up for us. Math has kind of just been whatever. The homework is all online, and my quizzes are prep for class, and I get an unlimited number of tries on those. We've only had one real test and a couple of projects.
But lest you think I'm studying too much, never fear. I definitely still get out and dance (probably more than I should, but oh well). Wednesday nights are easily the best. Swing people are just so much fun! There really isn't a whole lot to tell, though. I did learn an awesome new partner move yesterday at the swing workshop that I've been dying to learn forever :-) It made my day.
Oh, and I got called as Relief Society Secretary. It's kind of weird to sit up front during RS. There hasn't been anything major there, though. We're working on trying to get some activities together, but nothing much has happened yet.
And big news away from Rexburg: I've had two friends leave on their missions in the last couple of months. They're both going to South America: one to the Chile Santiago West mission, and the other to the Brazil Salvador South mission. I've written to both of them already and can't wait to hear back from them!
And I guess I'll throw this out there since my school does have a reputation: no, I don't have a boyfriend. No, I haven't been on any dates. No, there's no one in particular that I'm really interest in. (I know you were all just dying to know.)
Well, I think that about covers it. Maybe I'll post again before the end of the semester ;-)

Back in the Burg
Hello there fellow reader!
Yes, I am actually blogging again. Much more interesting things to write about while I'm at school. The off track was just working and doing homework for my online class. Now I actually have a social life again!
So I've been back in Rexburg for almost two weeks. Classes are well under way. I'll tell you, I'm going to be busy this semester. I'm taking 7 classes with a total of 16 credits: a foundations math class, Chemistry, Botany, University band, Book of Mormon (second half), Social Dance, and Master bassoon class. My chem and botany both require a lab, so I'll be spending four hours in lab every week this semester (or most every week). Mondays are my crazy days. I start classes at 9, and I don't get home until 5:30. Yup, it's a long day. And then add to that FHE and homework. Thursday is probably going to be my favorite weekday. I have Book of Mormon at 9, Chem at 11:30, and social dance at 12:45. Then I'm done with classes for the day. I'm sure I can find a good use for all that extra time- like homework and bassooning.
Outside of my hectic academic schedule, I have of course, done some dancing. It's good to be home! A lot of people that I know from the fall semester are here, so it's almost just like the good ol' days. My two dancing bffs aren't here this semester. Emily is off track, and Kendall left on April 27th to serve his mission in the Salvador, Brazil mission. I've decided that I'm probably going to have to be more selective this semester about the workshops I go to, though, given the time I need to put into homework and studying (forget skipping the actual dance nights, though!)
And I can't not tell you about my roommates. Anna Neilsen is the one I share a room with. We were roomies in the fall, though, so we already know each other. My two new roommates are Krysta Klumpp and Leanda Akuoko. I don't see much of them, to be honest, because they usually spend their evening at the library, gym, and I don't know where all else. They are nice girls, though, and we get along well. Krysta is from Utah, and Leanda is from London, England. Yes, she has a fun accent :-) They both got really excited about the Royal Wedding last week and decided to pull and all nighter for it.
Church is interesting, too. I'm in the same ward, but they've changed location and time. I was in the Benson building at 9 am last semester, but now I'm in the MC at 12:30. We went from being one of the biggest wards in the stake to one of the smallest. And, most interestingly of all, our schedule is backwards. We start with Relief Society/Priesthood, then go to Sunday school, and end with Sacrament meeting. It's not what I'm used to, and certainly not my favorite schedule, but it's what I'm doing for the next three months, so I'll deal :-)
Well, I think that's about all for now. I'm going to go find something to do to kill time until Stadium singing. Hopefully I'll post again soon.
Toodles! (Yes I did!)

I'm Baaaack!
Yeah, I know it's been a while since I posted. So basically, the rest of my semester was good! :-) We got my dorm white glove clean, packed up all our stuff, and Kelsee and I had a Criminal Minds Marathon on our last night there.
Since I've been home, I got a job at Palmer's Market and Deli in Ankeny. It's a sandwich/salad kind of place. I'm basically my manager's flexible employee. If he needs someone to work the evening shift, he turns to me. I figure that's a good way to be a good employee and stay on the boss's good side ;-) It's a lot better job than going back to Subway: better pay and better hours, not to mention I actually get to work with people. I'm working six hours six days a week, so work is a lot of my time right now.
The rest of the lot of my time is being taken by my online class. It's a class about Pakistan, and I don't think I've ever done so much BSing my life. It's not exactly hard, it just takes a lot of time.
But the big news is that my best friend, Melanie Clawson, got married yesterday in the Nauvoo Temple! She looked gorgeous, and her (now) husband, Eric, looked pretty good, too. There were several people from my ward that came and some of Eric's family, too. Since I couldn't go in and watch the sealing, DeAnn let me have her car for the hour and a half. I went to the bookstore and spent more money than I should have. I also went around Nauvoo and took some pictures. I've never been to Nauvoo in the winter, but it was pretty quiet. After I got home, I uploaded all my pictures from the day, and I've done several of the pictures on Picnic. I'm having way too much fun with it. Her reception is tonight, so there are more pictures to come!
