Hiya!
No, I haven't died. I just figure nobody really reads this anyway, so why update? :-P But I don't have a lot to do today, and half of my apartment is gone for the weekend, so I figured, why not?
This really has been a fantastic semester. I finally live in an apartment with six girls that ALL get along. My ward is pretty cool, and I've got great friends. I get to dance a lot, too, which I think is a big contributing factor to my happiness. (That, and I'm not taking Chemistry- ever again.)
So I'll start with classes. I am taking a biology class, of course. This semester is Plant Systematics. "What is that?", you might ask. Well my friends, it's all about plants :-D Ok ok. What it really is is learning to recognize, identify, and name plants. I'm not super excited about it, to be honest, but what's a girl to do? I am also taking a social dance class. It's my earliest class, but that's good because it gets me up and moving in the morning instead of sitting through a lecture and falling asleep. It's fun, but I haven't actually learned anything in that class, yet. I already know all the girl moves (or at least the ones we've done so far). There are several really cute guys in that class, too. And would it surprise you to learn that I'm taking another dance class? I know- shocker. It's a beginning Latin class. I'm learning the technique to two dances- the cha cha and samba. Of my two dance classes, this one is my favorite. I am also taking Family Foundations, which is a required religion class at BYU-I. We study the Family Proclamation (for my non-Mormon friends: click here to read the context of the Family Proclamation). It's an interesting class, and I'll forever be grateful that my teacher doesn't preach at us to go get married this very instant and have kids, or I wouldn't like it very much. Both are on my To Do List, but the Lord hasn't seen fit to bless me with a prospective man yet. Let's see...I'm also taking my last Spanish class. So far everything has been a review, but some of that review stuff was very much needed. I just wish there wasn't so much busy work. I'm taking my first English class in about 3 years. My teacher is an awesome guy, though, and it's a writing class, so I actually kind of enjoy it. Right now we're working on a persuasive policy paper, which is where we write about some policy that we t hink needs to be changed and give reasons and persuade. Self explanatory. I am writing mine on and to Sea World and the need to increase the genetic variation within their orca population. Gasp. I know. Me writing about killer whales. Who'da thunk it?
That's all my classes. It's a pretty sweet schedule, actually, because I am done with classes M-W by 12:30 and F by 10 AM. On Thursdays, I have classes from 9-12:30, a short break, and then biology lab from 3:15-6. Occasionally, I have a dance thing or two to go to, but I've got most of those out of the way. I just have one mini competition to go to for my Latin class, which I will do in a couple of weeks.
My other big thing this semester has been Talent Activities. I am managing the ballroom workshop. It's been smooth sailing for the most part, and I've really enjoyed it. It's not much more of a time commitment than I've put in in the past. The only difference is that I have to go to a couple hours of meetings every week. The hardest part has been schedule teachers of the male variety. They are in short supply this semester for some reason, and I try not to over schedule them, but it's hard when I've only got three or four of 'em. Thankfully, the guy who usually teaches the beginning class is super eager to learn and teach, so he doesn't mind doing it every week if I need him to.
Well, that's pretty much the story of my spring semester so far. Like I said previously, no special men in my life, so nothing exciting on that front. Several of my friends have had big life events recently, though. My two best friends from high school have had big things, although totally separate. Melanie Terry (Clawson for all you high school friends) had her first baby a week ago. She had a darling little girl named Katelyn. My other best friend, Sean Tognetti, hit the one year mark of his mission on the 18th of this month. My buddy, Kendall Wahnschaffe, also hit his one year mark on April 18th. Kendall is serving in Brazil, and his new area is right on the coast. His apartment literally overlooks the beach! I am so jealous!
That's it for now!
